SAMUN

S A M U N - SouthAmericanModelUnitedNations

SAMUN is an every year event and it is a model of the United Nations as the name describes. In SAMUN we debate about very concerning issues happening around the world, like Global warming, to find good solutions to which we all or most of us agree on. Each student represents a country and throughout the whole four-day conference she or he has to act as a delegate from the specific country. Students are only allowed to expose their countries’ thoughts but never their own. Even though I don’t consider myself very good at debating I have attended JMUN (Junior Model United Nations) for the past three years and attended SAMUN for the first time this year since I enjoy these conferences very much. A lot of fun happens during these four days of debating but the truth is that it get pretty boring sometimes and you just feel like leaving. There are many rules inside committees and if not followed warnings are given out, some of these rules are, you can’t say “I believe…” you must say “The delegation of _____ believes…” The good thing about all MUN’s is that they enrich the level of students’ knowledge and at the same time you can have some fun.
